This weekend I challenge you to listen to the kinds of conversations happening within you. As creators, we are constantly engaging our surroundings and ourselves. Many of us, however, are oblivious to the condition of our own internal dialogue. Listen to your internal voice as you seek to make decisions. Listen as you work through difficult life and professional assignments. Are you self-abusing? Do you encourage yourself when your best work is not produced? Do you assault yourself when you are agitated? How you speak within to yourself is an indicator of how well you treat others.
I want you to write down repetitive statements you hear—both positive and negative. Then I want you to talk back to those internal whispers. When you speak negatively to yourself, correct the negativity and affirm yourself—out loud. Who cares if you appear strange? To continue to self-abuse is unhealthy and impedes your wholeness! Commit to no longer participating in your own destruction. Self-abusing and other abusing ways of thinking and being kill you and your dreams slowly and softly. In the words of hip-hop days long since passed, you betta check yo’ self before you wreck yo’ self! LOL #WithLove-InPeace-ThroughGrace
